Survivor Led advocacy
We take a human rights-based approach to all our activities. Our vision is to create ethical, athlete-centred gymnastics, built on trust, fairness & respect. We have sister networks in Australia, Canada, Europe, New Zealand and the USA. Our activities centre around three key strands:
Our PROGRAMMES
-
We encourage athletes to use their voice to campaign for change in the sport of gymnastics
-
We provide support & healing resources to survivors of athlete abuse
-
We use litigation as a way to raise public awareness of athlete abuse with the aim of bringing about changes to the governance of sport both in the UK & around the world
Gymnasts for Change International (G4CI) is a survivor-led human rights charity dedicated to achieving redress for those harmed in gymnastics, reforming abusive cultures, and protecting future generations of athletes.
Since our founding in 2020, we have grown from a UK survivor led campaign group, into a leading international voice for survivors, achieving landmark advocacy successes, influencing government inquiries, and supporting hundreds of survivors directly through advocacy, therapy, and community.
In 2024–25 alone, G4CI supported over 60 athletes in the UK with civil claims and national governing body investigations, partnered with international advocates and academics to drive change globally through strategic influencing, and raised public awareness of abuse in gymnastics, reaching millions through the release of two new documentary films and media engagements.
In September 2025, our Australian Campaign Manager, Alison Quigley - achieved a landmark victory via the Gymnastics Ethics Foundation, when it was ruled that Gymnastics Australia had breached the Human Rights of a 12 year old athlete, by failing to investigate her complaint properly. We hope that this key success will mark the start of a new phase of scrutiny for complaint handling at National Governing Bodies world-wide.
SURVIVOR LED ARTS PROGRAMME 2025 - 2028
While G4CI has already delivered high-profile documentaries and advocacy campaigns to date, our formal Survivor-Led Arts Programme represents a new chapter. Beginning in late 2025, G4CI will launch its Survivor-Led Arts Programme, a dedicated strand of work that uses the arts as a vehicle for testimony, solidarity, and systemic change. This initiative will provide survivors with creative platforms — through film, exhibitions, performance, and oral history — to share their experiences and challenge the entrenched cultures of silence in gymnastics.

In January 2024 Gymnasts for Change became a registered charity in the UK and received a significant grant from a human rights funder to facilitate our survivor led advocacy and support. In spring 2024 we launched a range of community programmes, advocacy & support services. This included the development of a brand new membership website to connect survivors in the sport and champion peer-to-peer campaign and advocacy activities with the aim of transforming the culture of the sport world wide. Access to this membership network will soon be opened up to new members.
